Monthly Community Building Cafés

 

are designed to support the SST (Safer Stronger Together) and SFP (Strengthening Families Program) initiatives. We provide specialized cafés for diverse populations in a safe, non-judgmental environment where communities can gather, share their experiences, and work toward solutions that matter to them. To remove barriers to participation, we offer childcare and a free, healthy meal at every café.

Connect & Serve’s mission is to strengthen pathways to wellness and prosperity. We believe that reflection, connection, and a sense of community are essential to becoming whole.

Café Experiences at Connect & Serve

​

Parent Cafés were the foundation of our work and inspired much of the model we use today at Connect & Serve. We partner with schools and church communities across the DMV to create safe, supportive spaces where parents and caregivers can gather, strengthen their skills, and learn positive parenting practices. Our goal is to help families build stronger, healthier social and emotional environments that nurture growth for the entire household.

WOW (Women of Worth) Cafés

​

WOW Cafés are central to the healing and empowerment work we offer to women from all walks of life. Each month, women come together in a supportive sisterhood to learn, reflect, grow, and celebrate their womanhood.

Emerging Youth Leadership Cafés

​

Designed for youth ages 12–18, these cafés promote leadership, expression, and personal growth—especially for young people often labeled “at risk.” We collaborate with families and schools to plan activities that improve school attendance, build positive social behaviors, reduce bullying and other harmful patterns, and support academic success. The experience is peer-driven, encouraging youth to learn from one another, build community, and develop a stronger sense of self while embracing interdependence and shared goals.

We also design cafés by request to support the unique needs of specific groups, including:

  • Veterans

  • Men

  • Families of children with special needs

  • Seniors
